Ethereum (ETH) price analysis — daily chart

Ethereum (ETH) is at 2,283 on the 1D chart. ETH is in a downtrend that is still pressing lower. The structure is still down: lower highs and lower lows, and the last lower high at 2,526 has not been taken back.

Downtrend, bouncing — 200 EMA lost

Where ETH is

A downtrend still pressing lower.

ETH is in a downtrend that is still pressing lower. The structure is still down: lower highs and lower lows, and the last lower high at 2,526 has not been taken back.

The weekly picture: a weekly downtrend, 54% under the all-time high; on the daily, price is above the 200-day (2,159), and the 50-day is above the 200-day. The daily trend runs with the weekly.

Price lost the 200 EMA (2,321) 3 candles ago, after 71 candles above it. The 200 is the long-term line most traders draw: below it the long-term picture turns defensive, and the first retest of it from below is where that is proved. A close back above 2,321 means it did not hold. It does not stand alone: the 0.382 fib of the last swing sits at the same price.

ETH rose 9% to 2,526 on the daily chart, then gave it all back, dropping 14% to 2,174, and has since won back about a third of that pullback. It is now pinned in a tight 2,277–2,297 band. The 2,297 ceiling has turned price back 3 times, counting all 2 timeframes.

The daily structure is a downtrend — lower highs and lower lows, and price broke the 2,317 swing low 3 days ago and has stayed under it. The last lower high is 2,526 — the downtrend holds while price stays under it. Price is just below the 0.382 retracement of the last up-move, at 2,310 — the pullback has already gone through it. RSI is diverging — price made a lower low that momentum did not confirm. Volume is building under the move.

Bounce into resistance in a downtrend at 2,357. It confirms if price stays below 2,357. A close above 2,404 cancels it.

Breakdown and retest at 2,317. It confirms if price stays below 2,317. A close above 2,364 cancels it.

Who's behind the move

The rest of the chart backs the downtrend. Hidden bearish divergence on MACD: the bounce lifted momentum past its last high without lifting price there — effort without result. ADX is 31, a real trend, with sellers ahead (+DI 13, −DI 30). Price is under every average that matters: the Ichimoku cloud and the 200 EMA (the 20 under the 50).

What doesn't fit: A bullish divergence on RSI: price set a lower low that momentum did not match, so the selling is losing force. Price is above the average price paid since the swing low (anchored VWAP 2,125), so the buyers since that low are in profit. Volume flow backs it — more volume has traded on up candles than down (CMF +0.09, OBV falling). These are the cracks in an otherwise intact downtrend.

Also on the chart: RSI is 35: sellers have had the stronger closes. MACD is below its signal line, so the latest swing has downward momentum of its own. Everyone who bought since the last top is still losing (average since the swing high 2,329). Volume is not confirming the move (on-balance volume is diverging from price).

The squeeze released 3 candles ago, down — volatility is expanding again.

Volume is 0.5× normal — unusually light; bounce volume is weak — the bounce is drawing little buying.

In futures, funding is positive — longs are paying to hold (neutral); price up on rising OI — new longs, trend has fuel.

Liquidations are stacked: long liquidations below near 2,078 ($3199M); short liquidations above near 2,489 ($3151M).

A high-volume price that price has not revisited (a naked POC) sits below at 1,904; and another above at 2,469; value is migrating up (+5.6%) — the prices where most volume trades are moving higher; price is spending time inside value — the market is accepting these prices.

The levels on the chart

2,356, the 3-TF resistance 3.2% above price: sellers turned price there on 8 of 12 visits, on 2.1× the usual volume; it lines up with the 20 EMA.

2,329, a fib retracement 2.0% above price: sellers turned price there on 5 of 8 visits, on 2.4× the usual volume; it lines up with the 0.382 retracement of the chart's whole range.

The long-term lines: the 200-day average at 2,159 (−5.4%), the 50-day average at 2,517 (+10.2%), the yearly open at 2,972 (+30.1%), the quarterly open at 2,686 (+17.6%) and last year's range 1,384–4,958.

2,297, the 2-TF resistance 0.6% above price: sellers turned price there on 5 of 8 visits, on 2.0× the usual volume; it lines up with the 0.382 retracement of the chart's whole range.

The last swing high at 2,392, not yet taken — the kind of spot where stop orders usually sit just above.

3 equal highs at 2,540, not yet taken — stops sit just above.

2,356 is the level on the most timeframes — 3 timeframes (1D/4H/1H), 2 touches; an order block, the point of control — the most-traded price and a high-volume node sit at the same price.

Measured on the running drop from 2,526 to 2,174, price has given back 31% of it — a shallow bounce. The golden pocket, 2,392–2,403, is where the 0.618 retracement of that drop sits. Its extensions mark 2,078 (1.272) and 1,956 (1.618) below.

1,842 is where two separate tools meet: the 2 Fibonacci level of the last swing and a support.

1,886–1,918 is a fresh demand zone: price fell into it, paused, then rallied hard (7.7 average candles in one move); price has not been back since.

2,669–2,740 is a fresh supply zone: price rallied into it, paused, then dropped hard (2.8 average candles in one move); price has not been back since.

The nearest round numbers: 2,500 above and 2,250 below.

A 3-touch support trendline just broke — the line is now near 2,463.

What to watch

A 1D close past 2,309 or 2,277 changes the picture.

Downtrend — lower highs and lower lows; it holds while price stays under 2,527.

A 1D close above 2,309 breaks the box's ceiling, though the downtrend's last lower high still sits above; no tested level above it on this chart.

A 1D close below 2,276 loses the floor inside a downtrend — a new low in the trend's direction; no tested level below it on this chart.

How to use it

Watch for this: a 1D close back above 2,321 means it did not hold.

The common misread: calling the downtrend over before its last lower high breaks — the challenge only counts on a close through it.

Since the last read: still in a downtrend, unchanged over the last 2 days.
