No clean trend, at resistance — testing a 3-touch rising trendline
A range — no side in control.
BCH is in a range. There is no run of higher or lower swings to call a trend, and ADX is 17 — under the 25 where a trend is real; price is boxed between 271.6 and 282.5.
The weekly picture: a weekly downtrend, 83% under the all-time high; on the daily, price is above the 200-day (284.0), and the 50-day is above the 200-day. The daily has no trend of its own.
Price is back on the rising trendline that has caught it 3 times over 47 days — it sits at 279.5 on this candle. A close under 279.5 breaks the line; a bounce here is the line doing its job again. It does not stand alone: the 50 EMA and the 0.5 fib of the last swing sit at the same price.
BCH pulled back after a strong rally on the daily chart, and has since bounced back about half of the way. It rose 19% to 305.1, then pulled back to 263.4. It is now pinned in a tight 271.6–282.5 band, pressing on the ceiling. The 282.5 ceiling has turned price back 5 times, counting all 2 timeframes.
The daily structure is coiling — lower highs pressing down on higher lows. The coil runs between the 305.1 lower high and the 256.2 higher low, and it is getting tighter. Price is on a rising support trendline at 279.5, touched 3 times. An imbalance (fair value gap) sits below at 255.6–261.4 — a stretch price ran through one way, with little trade back and forth. Price is testing its 50-period average at 279.8.
Buyers lean ahead, not decisively.
Inside the box the evidence is split. On the buyers' side: Price is above the average price paid since the swing low (anchored VWAP 267.4), so the buyers since that low are in profit. Volume flow backs it — more volume has traded on up candles than down (CMF +0.16). MACD is above its signal line, so the latest swing has upward momentum of its own.
On the sellers' side: Everyone who bought since the last top is still losing (average since the swing high 351.1). Price is under the 200 EMA, with the 20 EMA above the 50. That split is what a range is: neither side has the evidence to take price out of it.
The trend is weak — ADX 17, under the 25 where a trend is real, with sellers only slightly ahead (−DI 22, +DI 15) — this is a box, not a trend.
Everything else on the chart: RSI is 50, neutral — neither side's closes dominate. Volatility is coiled — a TTM squeeze (Bollinger Bands inside the Keltner Channels) has run 7 candles, with momentum inside it pointing up.
Volume is 0.6× normal — unusually light; volume is fading — fewer traders are taking part.
A high-volume price that price has not revisited (a naked POC) sits above at 448.02; value is migrating up (+18.3%) — the prices where most volume trades are moving higher; price is moving through value quickly — the market is not accepting these prices.
271.6 is the line it stands on.
271.6 is where buyers keep showing up: it held 5 of 8 visits, on 2.1× the usual volume. It is also the 0.5 retracement of the chart's whole range and the anchored VWAP from the swing low.
288.2, the 2-TF resistance 2.6% above price: sellers turned price there on 4 of 7 visits, on 1.6× the usual volume; it lines up with the 20 EMA.
The long-term lines: the 200-day average at 284.0 (+1.1%), the 50-day average at 285.8 (+1.8%), the yearly open at 599.6 (+113.6%), the quarterly open at 306.5 (+9.2%) and last year's range 249.2–650.8.
284.6, a resistance 1.4% above price: it gave way on 3 of 5 visits, on 2.0× the usual volume; it lines up with the 20 EMA.
282.5, the 2-TF resistance 0.6% above price: it gave way on 3 of 4 visits, on 2.3× the usual volume; it lines up with the 20 EMA.
The last swing high at 305.1, not yet taken — the kind of spot where stop orders usually sit just above.
The last swing low at 256.2, not yet taken — stops sit just below.
271.6 is the level on the most timeframes — 2 timeframes (4H/1H), 5 touches.
Measured on the last rally from 256.2 to 305.1, price has given back 50% of it — a pullback into the middle of the move. The golden pocket, 273.3–274.9, is where the 0.618 retracement of that rally sits. Its extensions mark 318.5 (1.272) and 335.4 (1.618) above.
268.5 is where two separate tools meet: the 0.705 Fibonacci level of the last swing and a support.
212.9–226.5 is a fresh demand zone: price fell into it, paused, then rallied hard (2.2 average candles in one move); price has not been back since.
311.9–317.9 is a fresh supply zone: price rallied into it, paused, then dropped hard (2.4 average candles in one move); price has not been back since.
The nearest round numbers: 300.0 above and 250.0 below.
A 1D close past 284.6 or 271.6 changes the picture.
A 1D close above 284.6 breaks the range's ceiling; no tested level above it on this chart.
A 1D close below 271.6 breaks the range's floor; no tested level below it on this chart.
Watch for this: a 1D close under 279.5 breaks the line.
